LAST SHOUT?
Before you know it…
well…it’s all over.
That’s bar the shouting,
which in this here case
(and here at this place
- The Rub a Dub Dub -
which in this here case
is only the name
of your local pub
- not some Cockneyesque
Rhyming Slang thingy -
on tonight’s mission
to get legless; drunk,
you and your mates)
means shouting as in
shouting up the ale.
Your final round of drinks
YOUR FINAL ROUND OF DRINKS
(A Syllable Sestina)
“Your final round of drinks?”
Winks – “Pour off, my sound gal!”
Mal Brown sinks four… sigh… quaff
Froth shall fly! Blink, roar, frown…
Browned off? Normal… Drinks dry
five rounds – stinks of alc… More…?

Way to keep yer trunk in, E-man!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a blast.
Thanks Ron; Glad you think so.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear 'ale'? Going directly to fridge. Cheers ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anthony; Drink responsiby!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the shouting's the best bit!
ReplyDeleteStsn, you have been a delight this month, so glad you decided to come along and make us smile. I hope you stick around.
ReplyDeletePamela
btw I don't like beer, but I know a few who do:)
Hope this poem is not the 'final round of drinks.' It's been a pleasure, Stan. Hope to see you around Blogland again soon!
ReplyDeleteLuckily for us, the pub will open again tomorrow - somewhere. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I come here, I hear music. Today is no exception: "Those were the days, my friend, we'd thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day. We'd fight and never loose, we'd live the life we'd choose. Those were the days, oh yes those were the days." Thanks for the laughs and the music Stan. Hope you continue always,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth
Thanks to:
ReplyDeleteDave; Yes, but always the hangover...
Pamela; Glad I was able to last the course...
Mary; Watch this space...
Mr.Walker; Or even stay open tonight...
Elizabeth; It's always a pleasure.
Hahaha, "tonight's mission to get legless" :-D This wasted me for sure! Those Missions seem to intensify somehow. Take care, because I hope to read more even after April.
ReplyDeleteThanks and see you! (I'll be watching this place ;-))
Thanks Mariya; Like Elizabeth said: "Those were the days..." - And I'll be around and back to regular prompt participation.
ReplyDeleteThe last shout...what a great way to end the month! You really are quite clever. I'm linking your blog on mine...consider the link to be "virtual reflective tape", making it easier to find my way back here so I can enjoy another round, another day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Whenwordsescape; I'll put a link from here to you too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stan! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula; A fair trade.
ReplyDeleteNicely Stan, it's your shout next!
ReplyDeleteAnd a syllable sestina to boot!! Nicely!!!
Thanks Andy;It's a wrap!
ReplyDeleteA big Thank You to everyone who visited and/or commented during NapoWriMo 2011.
