LIAR
It’s not true that… it’s just not true
You’re barking up the wrong tree
Making it up as you go along
Telling pork pies; conning me
You’re so wrong; man… you got it wrong
You’re having a laugh; must be
You’re pulling the wool over my eyes
Making a fool out of me
It’s not on, pal… it’s so not on
Your words aren’t deceiving me
I swear it’s a lie, and I should know
You can’t kid a kidder… see?
It truely is not nice when someone get's it over a kidder. But oh how hard they try.

Thanks Elizabeth; I guess it's a case of flattering to deceive...
ReplyDeleteWell, I really do like it,no kidding, not a word of a lie.
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv; If you're not telling the truth, I'll know... ;)
ReplyDeleteMethinks the gentleman doth protest too much...
ReplyDeleteThanks I'mnotaverse; Yeah, but he does have a point :)
ReplyDeleteKidders are the easiest kids, I think.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this one, S.
Thanks Ron; You could be right.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear this read aloud. The voice is interesting. Cliches run through it and they fit so well. You liar. (just kidding!)
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda; I wanted to get some more in, but not make it too long, so I left it at that.
ReplyDeleteFun Poem! I really like your elephant photo blog background too!
ReplyDelete"it's so not on." Ha! That's telling him.
ReplyDeleteThanks to:
ReplyDeleteJeanne; When I saw it in 'design' I couldn't resist it.
Thingy; Something an old school teacher used to say to us years ago.
Stan, fun and clever. The rhyme works well here. A great take on the "it's not true..." prompt, incorporating it takes one to know one. I'm going to steal "It's not on, pal" - you know, being a teacher.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr.Walker. Go on then - I'll lie; you steal - sounds fair.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of ways to say someone is being less than truthful. You’re not spoofing me, are you?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike; Would I...?
ReplyDeleteStan, I love what you did with this prompt. Using the cliches is effective. "It's not on pal" is a new phrase for me, but if I use it people won't understand me:-)
ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks Pamela; And you a teacher! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this lighthearted verse... "telling pork pies" is a gem!

Thanks Laurie; Cockney rhyming slang (in case you dont know).
ReplyDeleteI liked it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Whenwordsescape; You're not having me on... are you? :)
ReplyDeleteNope... cannot kid a kidder!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim; Innit?
ReplyDeleteNo kidding, this was delightful! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria; Glad you loked it.
ReplyDeleteThe rhyme really supports the idea. I like the straight out title & the many lines of "not so."
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb; But who's the real liar?
ReplyDeleteLove all of the expressions of disbelief here!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin; I'm sure there are many more.
