Brenda at Beyond the Bozone set us a wordle using the following words: ash, gloomy, hovels, corrugated, cobwebs, dandelion, scrambling, hum, laugh, feeble, crucial, words
THE FACE OF CONCERN
Are we supposed to give up
On everything we hold dear
Just because it’s Ash Wednesday?
Just because we feel gloomy?
Because we live in hovels
With corrugated tin roofs?
Rooms full of dust and cobwebs
Yards, where dandelions grow?
Make the most of what we’ve got
Or spend our entire lifetime
Scrambling to avoid the hum
Of a deprived neighbourhood?
You can choose to listen, or
Laugh at my feeble attempt
At crucial words of wisdom
Either way, the choice is yours
And here's a link to a 40 line sentence (38 actually), I wrote last year.
I hear you Stan, in fact that's a pretty good description of my little bit of bohemia!
ReplyDeleteWell recorded!!
This puts me in mind of some of the poorest neighborhoods here, still in ruins almost 6 years post-Katrina. So sad.
ReplyDeleteMake the most of what you've got, or every day grows heavy. Great wordling, Stan! We do create our own reality.

Hear you and listen to you! Nice one
ReplyDeleteStan, this is great. Appropriate for Lent and also for the entire year. It's all in each person's mind, reality. Coming from scarcity or from abundance; deciding to share what you have or ignore the needs of others, even as a matter of saving your own sanity because there's too much need... Great piece. Amy

Thanks to:
ReplyDeleteAndy; I know what you mean.
Zouxzoux; Hard to believe she left such a scar.
Brenda; The less you have, the more you know this.
Jeeves; Thanks for that.
Amy; Too much needd - I agree.
real wisdom here, thank you for the reminder. Of your descriptions, we do have dandelions!
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv; My dandelions are growing through cracks in the concrete... :o
ReplyDeleteThis has a different feel to your usual style. I like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks I'mnotaverse;I just went where the words took me.
ReplyDeleteWe should be grateful for what we've got and at the same time not ignore the needs of others. Thanks for those words, Stan.
ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks Pamela; There's always someone worse off.
ReplyDeleteImpressive work, Stan! Vivid and poignant picture of a poor neighbourhood.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to laugh, I'm going to listen. Well-done, Stan. This is concise and effective, and a good response to the wordle prompt.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at where this word list took you, absolutely amazed. It's so true...makes us take a moment to give thanks for all we've got. Great job with the list!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to:
ReplyDeleteIrene; It could be anywhere in the world.
Mr.Walker; Thanks for listening.
Gloria; And it does only take a moment...
Mad Kane; Keep on keeping on...
