For Sunday Scribblings
And Monday Poetry Train Revisited
UNCOMMON VALOUR
To unsung heroes everywhere
Who did something they’d like to think
Somebody else would do for them
Not the way the cookie crumbles…
A selfless act of bravery
Provokes the hero’s modest words
‘It was only a reaction’
‘Anyone would have done the same’
On reflection, hindsight suggests
Those apathetic bystanders
Reacted like anyone would
And Courage… someone else’s job
incredible word play,
ReplyDeletei enjoy the thinking and logic!
Thanks Jingle; For whatever reason, most people just don't react.
ReplyDeleteWho knows how we would react? Thanks to all those who do so with courage and please may I act the same.
ReplyDeleteGreat ending! But I hate the meaning behind it!
ReplyDeleteThanks to:
ReplyDeleteOld Egg; It comes down to risk assessment.
Linda; Natural reaction is to look after No1.
I would hope I would react differently but I guess I won't know until I'm tested.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dee; I hope you never have to take the test.
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Fight or flight.
