MOM’S HOUSE

FOR WE WRITE POEMS

What do you see in this photo? Do you notice the plates on the wall, the curtains on the window, the roosters on the bottom shelf? Whatever draws you into this photo, use it as a starting point and write. Write a new piece each day based on this poem, or just write one piece for the week. How long you spend with the photo is up to you. Whichever route you choose, be sure to come back next Wednesday to share what you’ve written and to read the work of your peers. See you then!

NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Return from another world
Re-entry takes one small step

An Alien atmosphere
Until signs of life are seen

Wall of china monument
Visible from inner space

Welcomes me to planet earth

  1. This reminds me of the way people have to take only their most treasured posessions when they are forced by circumstances to go into an old folks home - sad relics of a happier world...Guess that applies to the things as well as their owners...

  8. Enjoyed this! The ironic twist on the truism of the Great Wall of China being visible from (outer) space is fabulous!

  9. I like the alien idea, too. My kids don't want my stuff, and I don't want my parents stuff either... except for a very few things, lol.
