When I was in highschool I was out late one night with a buddy of mine and we saw these massive orange stars trailing fire towards the horizon. We had no idea what to think. Was God raining fire down on us for our sins? Had a plane broken apart in flight? Turns out it was a satellite, burning up on re-entry. A spectacular thing to see. Thanks for bringing back this old memory. It was buried under 10 years of piled debris!
Thanks to: Bobbie; 3 great words this week. Missy; So do I. Tumblewords; The slower, the better. Asleep on my Feet; I'm waiting for the Leonid meteor shower in Nov. Supposed to be good this year. Jeeves; I prefer to look on the light side. Anthony; You're right - rise and fall. We always want quickest way up; slowest way down. Sweetest in the Gale; Glad it said something to you. Just someone; Yes, I like the form for the same reason.
Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI guess that'll be happening with the Space Station and the Hubble Telescope at some point in time...
Thanks Mark; I guess so - but they had a good life.
