PARENTAL GUIDANCE
Here we go again...!
But what's all the fuss about?
I'll tell you, straight up...
You wish I'd lay off...
You're miserable as sin...
Show some in-te-rest!
Just to prove my point
I'll give you some sound advice
Got to keep things sweet!
It's not 'shit or bust'!
(to use a figure of speech)
...Have you had enough...?
Teenagers?
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie; You got it!
ReplyDeleteI remember those argumentative adolescents. Come to think of it, I was probably one myself once.
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv; Me too!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I like about getting older: I can look at this from both sides, child or parent, and laugh about all of it,

Thanks Jules; we always reap what we sow... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizabeth; good to be able to look back and laugh... :D
ReplyDeleteOh, Stan, this is GREAT. I used to tell my daughter, Riley, that swearing was "lazy language," used by people who couldn't think of adjectives fast enough, and so let the F-word describe everything. Of course, she didn't really need this advice, since she kept a thesaurus in the bathroom... (Valedictorian of her class, and that was BEFORE she was diagnosed with Asperger's!!)
ReplyDeleteThis is just too rich for all us parents, especially those whose children have moved on, like mime. Of course, I'm sure she swears a blue streak with her friends, but NEVER in a professional setting. Peace, Amy
Teenagers... one is full of angst at our place. The other is blossoming into something more mature than I will ever be. ha! I like your perspective. This will all pass too quickly, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy; Swearing is an art form... if used 'correctly'... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda; Approaching 50 ... and still a teenager at heart...
Yup, I thought teenagers too. Tell you one thing...when they get older it doesn't get better, it just gets more. :) Love your "Sunday Whirl is here" shoutout! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Veronica; I'm one four who were all teenagers together... must have been hell!
ReplyDeleteMakes me glad I don't have kids...
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann; I thought that was what was good about heaving them... ;)
ReplyDeleteStan, how the hell did you manage to conceal those wretched words so well? You did a great write in this concise piece.
ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks Pamela; I gather the words, throw them in the air, and see where they land... pot luck ;)
ReplyDeleteDid that rant work, Stan? I have a daughter with an edge that needs a little rough sanding! ;) I love the 'tude here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Walt; And there's only one 't' in a(tt)itude... ;)
