JOKE, LEVERAGE, REMEDY

For Three Word Wednesday
And Friday Flash 55

DOING MORE WITH LESS

I needed help.
Being a rookie, my inexperience left me in a tricky situation.
The remedy was to delegate responsibility upwards.
It seemed like a joke at first, but the more I thought about it,
The more I realised I could use my position to gain leverage.
After all; if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

  2. One of the ironies of life is that people often like you more when they can occasionally help you out. It's a fine line, but it works.

  3. Thanks Ann; Or only begin to like you when you turn to them for help.

Ramesh; For the aggressively ambitious, it's just a tactic.

  7. This chimes of business feeling the pinch in recession to me... doing more with less seems to be a popular theme out there these days, sadly.

But as the rookie learns, there can be leverage to this. Lemonade from lemons, they say.

Interesting one Stan Ski, well written.

It sort of like how men are reluctent to ask for directions?

  26. One of the cardinal rules of how to win friends and influence people is ask for help based on them being the expert! To hear or read my non-PC illustrated Friday 55 click here. Warning you may have to read the footnote after to make sense of it!

  31. I like this....delegating authority upwards. It's rather scary what people will do when told with authority.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That is definitely one of my mottos.

If you don't ask, you don't get.

    Nice one!

  39. I think you're right...I also think that those higher up begin to feel a bit threatened if a rookie seems to know more than they do!! So it soothes their egos a bit if you ask for help!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Asking for help is something we all need to do but often we don't because it seems so hard.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks to:
Nara; I think we all do.

  50. Yes, I agree too. Often people really want to help but don't know how. Asking for specific help lets them do what they want to do anyway. It's a two way street :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Dee; And there's always the ulterior motive for asking...
