For We Write Poems - Take it to the limits
INTO MY MIND
I’m going
Into my head
To see if it’s true
What they said about
No bread and half a loaf
Both not the full shilling
But the thing that’s nearly
Killing me
The thing I’m
Really dying to know
Trying to be
Oh so sure of
And not just so by the law of
Averages
Is this:
What exactly is the score?
Now
I’m not the sharpest tool
But I’m not a fool
Or am I?
Can I be less
Serious?
Clearly this is more the case:
No empty space between your ears
May not be
All that it appears
A full loaf only half baked
Make no mistake
Believe you me
Is gonna be
Most detri…
…Mental…!
So you see it’s not true
What they said…
…Now I’m going
Out of my head
OUT OF MY MIND…

This poem really had me coming and going, Stan!
ReplyDeletePoor Stan. They say it's worse if you know it's happening. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to:
ReplyDeleteMary; Thera's a limit to everything... or is there...?
I'mnotaverse; Dunno... I wasn't even there... :)
mm so long as it is
ReplyDeletethe same inside and out?

Thanks Lucychili; I've only ever been inside my own... :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I like your play on detri
ReplyDeletemental.
Very playful Stan! Go!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds grungie. Like something Nirvana might sing. I like it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to:
ReplyDeleteBrenda; That's the way it drove me :)
Irene; Yeah, playful, but it left me with a sore head... :)
Amanda; Maybe I should set it to music...

ReplyDeletePamela
Thanks Pamela; Oh dear... I guess that means I'll never know...
ReplyDeleteOkay Stan lay off the vine shake and Mekong Whiskey. It is a dangerous journey for one to enter their own mind. It is an aporia travail. However, you did pop out the other side of,
ReplyDeleteer a.....sanity. I enjoyed the trip with you.
Regards,
Don
Thanks Donald; A journey into my mind is only ever going to be a short one... :)
ReplyDeleteYou never fail to surprise me, Stan, as well as make me laugh. This poem does both.
ReplyDeleteThanks Viv; More surprises and more laughs to come... at least that's the plan :)
ReplyDeleteVery nicely written!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, Stan. I'm sure I'm not in my right mind. I like how your poems are fun, but make me think.

ReplyDeleteAndy; I had to think about it...
Mr.Walker; I like to take things seriously... but not too seriously.
Hey, Stan (and Mr. W.), at least I have a diagnosis, ha ha ha. This was very cool, free-form and quirky. Loved it! Amy
ReplyDelete(and the diagnosis is bipolar with a little touch of PTSD for kicks.)
