Sailors rotten misfortune
incurs wrath of ocean depths
Order given to scramble
Crew flees ever swelling surf

Enable charm offensive
from captain who holds the key
Reaches safety of the shore
Disembarks in upbeat mood

  3. Your poem puts me in mind of the HMS Bounty, the tall ship that sank off the North Carolina coast during Hurricane Sandy. The crew had to abandon ship as it went down in 18-foot waves. The roiling Atlantic Ocean claimed the captain. Sandy is responsible for so much tragedy and devastation. Liked this very much, Stan.

  6. I live by the sea, and my dad was a commercial fisherman who had some close calls ...... when he arrived home, there really was a 'tumultuous reception;!
